The Achaia Company of the Karakitsos family also launches wine in an aluminum can in Greece.
Canned wine is now on the shelves of supermarkets and more and more fine winemakers, following the new trends of winemaking, start producing and selling wine in an aluminum can, creating a luxury category in this fast growing sector.
In our country, the Achaia Company of the Karakitsos family in collaboration with the local winery Gidiaris proceeded to the release of a series of wines in a 250ml aluminum can a while ago. This is the canned wine Merula that is released in three codes of white, rosé and red. According to the CEO of Achaia Company, Phoebus Karakitsos: “Our initial approach was to create a product with a positive ecological footprint because the box is recyclable and at the same time with less weight and lower carbon dioxide emissions during production.”
The aim of this movement is its on-site consumption, wanting to offer consumers who are familiar with on-site consumption, such as younger ages and tourists, the opportunity to enjoy a quality Greek wine. In our country, the idea of ”canned wine” or “canned wine” can certainly be applied to our daily culture. Its easy-to-use packaging, fast cooling and ease of use at any time, are the features that make canned wines internationally popular. According to Mr. Karakitsios, “these are multi-variety wines aimed at consumers who belong to younger ages, who are accustomed to consuming products in a box. Even younger people who are just starting to drink alcohol can safely choose a can of wine over hard drinks. In addition, we seek canned wines to enter the tourist areas and HoReCa, since many times when we go out we choose to drink a glass and not a whole bottle “
