The Techni Oinou Estate won multiple awards at the Mundus Vini Wine Awards, proving the high quality of the wines it produces. Specifically, the estate received a total of three Gold and two Silver awards in the competition, increasing the number of distinctions awarded in the 25 years of operation of the winery.
The wines that were awarded with gold are the Oedipus Oak Assyrtiko (the harvests 2019 and 2020) and the Oedipus Oak Chardonnay 2019, while the Art of Alypia white 2020 and the Plan Malagouzia 2020 received a silver award.
The Techni Oinou Estate
The vineyards and the winery of the estate TECHNI OINOU are located in Mikrochori, Drama. The area is favored by the soil-climatic conditions and that is why it has a history in viticulture, which revived in the area thanks to the personal initiative and the passion of the winemakers Giannis Papadopoulos and Giannis Kalaitzidis. The beginning takes place in 1993 when G. Papadopoulos invests his passion in a small family vineyard in Mikrochori, Drama and at the same time houses his dream in a simple space and begins winemaking for hobbies and personal satisfaction. Two years later, in 1995, G. Kalaitzidis crosses the threshold of the winery. The creation of the Techni Oinou estate is now a fact and is accompanied by the release of their first wines, the series of white, rosé and red “Art of Alypia” which very quickly took their place in the market of new quality Greek wines.
Today, the Techni Oinou estate goes even further in its activities and creates its own e-shop with premium bottling. The e-shop will be available mainly premium bottles, which are difficult for the consumer to find in the channels that the property already has a presence. According to them, the goal is for the online store to cover and serve orders throughout Greece, giving the lovers of good wine the opportunity to taste wines from rare and hard to find labels.
The wines of the Techni Oinou estate
The flagship of the estate is the white wine Art of Alypia from Sauvignon blanc and Assyrtiko, which represents about 50% of the total production. The estate produces a total of 12 labels, some of which are also available on the supermarket channel, as the estate has developed partnerships with chains such as Sklavenitis and Vasilopoulos.
In 2020, it proceeded to rebranding the labels Art of Sorrow and Stinging Oak, with this year’s harvest now being released in a renewed packaging, while in 2021 it is expected to launch two new wines, a sour single black variety and a sweet red wine.
