“Idyssma Dryos Xi” 2016 from the Wine Art Estate emerged as the top wine of this year’s 21st International Wine & Spirits Competition of Thessaloniki.
“Idyssma Dryos Xi” 2016 from Ktima Techni Oinos emerged as the top wine of this year’s 21st International Wine & Spirits Competition of Thessaloniki, but also the top red wine of the competition. The best white wine was the “Estate of Gerovasiliou Chardonnay” 2019 and the best rosé wine was L ‘Esprit du Lac 2020 (Kyr Giannis).
In addition, the best dessert wine was “Vinsanto 12 years old” from the Venetsanou Winery, the best sparkling / semi-sparkling wine was Velvet from Cairo, the best resin was “Amber” by S. Kechri and Co., while the best distillate of the competition was “T Tyrnavou Vryssa De an anikaso »2020 (Vryssas SA).
In terms of score, the highest score was collected by “Syrah” (Kyr Giannis), with 96 out of 100, followed by “Samos Anthemis” from EOS Samos with 95 out of 100, “Apla” from the winery Oenops Wines and ” Two Barrique Rivers “from the Samartzi Bros winery.
Finally, they received special distinctions:

• Special Distinction in dry single-variety wine, from the Savvatiano variety: Two Barrique Rivers (Samartzi Bros)
• Special Distinction in dry red single-variety wine, from the variety Xinomavro: Idyssma Oak Xi (Wine Art Estate)
• Special Distinction in dry single variety wine, from the variety Malagouzia: Malagouzia Estate of Red Rhodes (Ioannis Triantaphyllidis)
• Special Distinction in dry single-variety wine, from the variety Xinisteri: Xinisteri (Tsiakkas Winery, Cyprus)
• Special Distinction in dry single variety wine, from the variety Moschofilero: Doors Moschofilero (Skouras OAAE)
• Special Distinction in an organic wine: Mi (A.O.A. Hatzivarytis)
It is noted that in this year’s Thessaloniki Wine & Spirits Competition, the 25 tasters tasted 696 samples, of which 661 samples were wines from Greece, Cyprus and Brazil, while the remaining 35 were spirits from Greece and Cyprus.
