From time to time we read and try new trends in drinks, many of which pass quickly. However a new trend seems to have come to stay… the reason for Hard Seltzer! The new trend in alcoholic beverages that has conquered the USA, United Kingdom, Australia and has now come to Greece.

Also known as “hard soda”, hard seltzer is a low-calorie alcoholic beverage and carbonated water, usually flavored with different flavors. It is usually found in a box, while the alcohol content is around 5%. Alcohol usually comes from fermented cane sugar, barley malt or neutral distillate. It is noted that, according to their creators, the majority of hard seltzer do not contain gluten.

Hard seltzer have conquered abroad as they are suitable for those who want to reduce alcohol and calorie intake. Each box of hard seltzer burns just 100 calories!

The rise of Hard Seltzer shows that there was a gap in the alcoholic beverage category which was exploited by this new trend. Its purchasing power seems to be consumers who were looking for alternatives that would be refreshing and tasty, but also low in calories and low in sugar. Also consumers who enjoyed popular cocktails such as vodka with soda and wine with soda and were looking for something different.

In fact, according to research published by the IWSR, hard seltzer consumption is expected to triple by 2023 and reach over 281 million cases. If you want to try a hard seltzer, you will find it in Greek supermarkets and delicatessen stores. Its price ranges from 1.50 to 3 euros.
