The Region of Central Greece is one of the thirteen (13) administrative regions of Greece. The region occupies the eastern half of the traditional region of Central Greece, including the islands of Evia and Skyros. To the south it borders with the regions of Attica and the Peloponnese, to the west with the region of Western Greece and to the north with the regions of Thessaly and Epirus. Its capital city is Lamia. It consists of the regional divisions of Evia, Evritania, Fthiotida, Fokida and Viotia. The Region of Central Greece lies at the center of Greece, connecting its two main cities and major poles of economic activity (Athens, Thessaloniki). Central Greece produces a wide range of agrifood goods thanks to the variety of its landscapes, soils, and its microclimate conditions, as well as a result of its rich gastronomic heritage. Numerous internationally renowned PDO and PGE products originate from the blessed land of Central Greece.
