The Foivos S.A. is the historical continuation of the "Nautilus" Winery, which then in the 20th century, due to the Venetian conquerors of the island, under the name Mantzavino, starred in the world of  wine, and made Greek wine known internationally. It is one of the oldest wineries in operation in Greece. Since 1999, a new dynamic effort has been started with the main goal of saving and promoting the excellent local and autochthonous varieties of the Kefalonian vineyard. The vineyards of the Foivos  Estate are the core of the historic vineyard of Katogis Kefalonia , where rare local, own-rooted, pre-phylloxera varieties (mostly clones of ancient varieties: Mavrodaphne, Muscat, Muscatel, Tsaousi, Vostilid, Thiako, Araklino), are cultivated with gentle cultivation techniques. At the same time, the winery manages vineyards in the area of Omala for the production of Robola.

A special feature of the winery is the aging of wines under water: The winery experimentally started its research in the aging of wine under water, since 2016, by submerging bottles for aging in the sea. At the same time, it applies another innovative method of aging and maturation by immersing bottles under fresh water, in special tanks of the winery that allows the wine to mature in absolute conditions of constant temperature, darkness and absence of oxygen!
