Honey; a gift from bees to us

For the Ancient Greeks, Aristaios was the first beekeeper, the son of Apollo and Kyrini, who was taught beekeeping by nymphs and muses.

Honey; the perfect food used by almost all ancient civilizations as medicine, aphrodisiac, anti-aging and cosmetic, a gift from gods to their people. Zeus was raised with honey from the nymph Melissa (the greek word for bee) , while Hippocrates and Aristotle recommended honey for the treatment of many diseases and prolongation of life.

Honey is rich in simple and complex sugars, enzymes, proteins, trace minerals, vitamins and essential oils of aromatic herbs. In order to produce a kilo of honey, the bee can visit up to 65,000,000 plants during 65,000 trips. It is a product that we approach with respect, by deepening in the innate wisdom that its production requires, taking care of the bees, while applying good beekeeping practice.

Not all types of honey are the same! The composition, quality, organic elements and even the form of honey, all vary from plant to plant, from region to region, even from year to year, because they are affected by weather conditions and flora. Dark honeys have larger amounts of antioxidants.
