“Gold” award for the Olympic Brewery in Health & Safety Awards

Olympic Brewery won a “Gold” award in the category “Health & Safety Culture” at this year’s Health & Safety Awards, organized by Boussias Communications

The purpose of the awards is to highlight the best Health and Safety practices at work, rewarding companies that create and maintain safe workplaces, develop a culture of preventive health and safety and are role models in their industry.

The creation of the Zero Accidents Culture is one of the four pillars of sustainable development of the Carlsberg Group and the Olympic Brewery, in the framework of the “Together Towards Zero” strategy. The company’s goal is to continuously reduce accidents at work every year, resulting in their elimination by 2030.

Employee safety first

In order to achieve these goals, the five “Rules of Life” were created, in which all the employees of the Group are trained, with special specializations depending on the position and the nature of their work. Employees are actively involved in locating and recording security incidents, while the H&S Ambassadors team analyzes data on a monthly basis, prioritizes and disseminates knowledge to all departments. As a result, in 2020 there was a decrease in accidents by 33% compared to 2019, while increasing the rate of compliance with safety rules by 16%.

Stratos Georgopoulos, Environmental, Health & Safety Supervisor, noted: “In the Olympic Brewery, the Health and Safety of our people is our basic and constant priority. In this direction, we implement a comprehensive program for the continuous reduction of accidents, especially those that can cause serious injury, in all our facilities nationwide. At the same time, we are constantly evaluating the risks and proceeding with improvements and trainings, in order to ensure the protection of the employees in the whole range of our operation. Every day, we strive to become better, serving our corporate purpose, to “Brew for a better today and tomorrow” »
