“The situation experienced by the wine-growing world of the country and the wineries is the worst of all post-war years”, said among others the president of KEOSOE, Christos Markou, in a teleconference of the 27 presidents of the cooperative-member organizations of KEOSOE, in which he participated. Deputy Minister of Rural Development G. Economou.
The participants claimed that our country has lagged significantly in terms of taking measures compared to other European countries, as the closed market, the 82% increase in stocks and the decrease in exports have created suffocating conditions in the operation of wineries.
In this context, Greek winemakers are asking for 5 support measures from the government.
Specifically, they suggested:
- Distillation of wine stocks at prices that will be related to the purchase price of grape production
- Green vintage with all cultivated varieties, at representative prices and with transparent, fast and efficient procedures
- Special aid for viticulturists from RDP (measure 21) or from state budget
- Storage of surplus quantities of wine
- Measures to enhance the liquidity of wineries to the 2009 standards to pay the vine growers and to skip the upcoming harvest
