For the first time, the Athens Fine Food Awards by EXPOTROF set a clear framework for evaluating the quality and taste of food produced in Greece by small producers. The process of “blind tasting” and the experienced evaluation committee expressed from the first year its strong character and raised the bar of validity of the institution.

Professionals of high level catering with great experience, sommelier, award-winning chefs with Michelin stars, but also important chefs who serve modern Greek cuisine, constantly looking for quality raw materials, were among the judges. In addition, professional visual communication designers with a variety of distinctions and important projects in the food sector, honored with their presence the evaluation process.

More than 200 products of small Greek producers were evaluated and 74 of them were awarded one, two or three quality stars for the year 2021. From these 25 products won the major awards in the categories of dry food, fresh food, beverages, olive oil, innovation, new product, organic food and packaging, while the grand AFFA award for 2021 was won by AMMOUSA beer from Patras who collected the highest score with 19.61 / 20.

Special mention should be made of the AFFA Honorary Award, which is given on the recommendation of the members of the jury. For 2021 the honorary AFFA is awarded to the great lady of Greek wine Dr. Stavroula Kourakou Dragonas for the project and its overall contribution to the promotion of local wine.

The Athens Fine Food Awards with respect to the Greek producer are the valid institution for the evaluation, promotion and promotion of Greek food production. The products of small producers pique our gastronomic interest, as they are the driving force of modern Greek cuisine and our gastronomic tradition.

We would like to thank all those who participated in the Athens Fine Food Awards 2021 and congratulate all those who distinguished themselves by renewing our appointment for 2022 from now on.
