Trikene Distillery is born in 1901, at 12 D. Makri Street, in the fish market of Messolonghi. Two brothers, Panos and Tasos Trikenes, decide to take out of a drawer the recipe of their shipowner grandfather, who came from Kefalonia—a recipe rich in anise.

The still boils all night long, the distillate drips slowly, and by morning the Sacred City is filled with the fragrant aroma of anise.
