Cair was founded in 1928 by Italians on the island of Rhodes and is one of the first wineries in Greece that operates to this day. The full name of the company was Compania Agricola Industriale Rodi and from this emerged the well known C.A.I.R., thus being the company with the agricultural and industrial activity.

The object of the company was the production and marketing of wine, as well as the production of oils. It also produced spirits, liquers and very nice vermouth.

In 1971 Rhodes finally won the right of the Designation of Origin of Superior Quality for its white, red and sweet wines.

CAIR, combining tradition with the latest technology, manages to emerge as one of the leading wineries in Greece. This fact is confirmed by the numerous awards in international competitions, as well as by its exports to Europe and America.

CAIR is one of the few wineries in the world that produces sparkling wine in the traditional way, such as our famous CAIR BRUT, DEMI SEC and VELVET, a unique sparkling wine that is the result of the harmonious pairing of the varieties of Chardonnay and Athiri.

The wines of CAIR are various series that highlight the Rhodian vineyards and continue the wine tradition dating back to thousands of years on the island which include, the PATHOS series, the MAESTRO series, the CELLARS OF THE KNIGHTS, HELIOY (SUN) HORA, and the sparkling VELVET & ROSE' RESERVE of 1996. Also, the white CAIR SELECTIONS from the aromatic varieties of Malagouzia and Sauvignon blanc, RETSINA CAIR and RETSINA GOLD, as well as our new aromatic sparkling SILK Rose'.

Today, the white varieties of Athiri, Malagouzia, Assyrtiiko, Muscat white and Muscat Trani, Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, and Uni blanc, are cultivated. Red varieties include, Mandilaria, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, as well as the new promising variety Mavrotheriko from Dodecanese, whose first wines have impressed the Wine Institute.

In the recent years, new innovative products have been released such as the sparkling RHOSCENTO with a crown cap for all uses in the HORECA industry, the excellent selection from a variety of 60% Malagouzia and 40% Sauvignon blanc, as well as the unique TEMPRANILLO from the vineyards of Rhodes, while in the field of sparkling the multi-variety SILK in a pink version with fermentation in the bottle and with a new excellent appearance. Also the top VERMOUTH Private 40 year old Reserve.

The culmination of the numerous amounts of gold, silver, bronze and honorary taste dinstinctions, include the Gold Medals (Gran Medaglia d 'Oro) won by Rose' Demi Sec at Concorso Enological International Competition of VINITALY in 2002 and 2004, the White Demi Sec in 2003, and Muscat of Rhodes in 2004 at the International Wine Competition of Thessaloniki, as well as the Cabernet Sauvignon (Red) from the Cellar of the Knight's series, and Rhodes 2400 (White), were also awarded Bronze medals at the International Wine Competition of Thessaloniki in 2020.

All this along with many other medals and distinctions, make us proud of our wines and the exceptional quality that our company maintains to this day.
