Greek exports set a new record in the first 11 months of 2021

Greek exports reached a new record in the first 11 months of 2021, reaching 36.3 billion euros, a performance that has never been recorded before, according to the Exporters’ Association, which estimates that 2021 closed with exports of more than EUR 38 billion.

An important role in this record was played by food exports, which from January to November 2021 amounted to 5.35 billion euros, compared to 4.82 billion euros in the corresponding period of 2020 and 4.38 billion euros in corresponding period of 2019. In percentage terms, the increase in Greek food exports reached 10.8% compared to the eleven months of 2020 and 22.2% compared to the eleven months of 2019.
It is worth noting that, with the exception of petroleum products, only exports of industrial products exceed those of food (5.70 billion euros in the eleven months of 2021). During the same period, exports of beverages and tobacco also increased significantly, reaching 855 million euros (+ 15.5% on an annual basis, + 23.1% on a biennial basis), as well as exports of fats and oils, which reached 668 million euros (+ 32.5% on an annual basis, + 82.5% on a biennial basis).
