Vassilis Kaniaris, despite all his studies in Medicine and his brilliant scientific career, never forgot the magic he experienced while spending his childhood years in his grandfather's vineyards in Mountainous Corinthia. This childhood memory prompted him in 2006 to purchase 350 acres of land in Pefkeneas in the countryside of Megara and from that moment on he dedicated his life to the revival of the Megaritikos vineyard and the development of the "Viticultural State of Pyrgos Kaniaris".

The vineyard covers 250 hectares of the estate, and in 1988 a special re-vineyard project was launched. Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Chardonnay, Grenache Rouge, Grenache, Merlot, Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, Vidiano, Roditis (cinnamon) and Muktaro are grown there.
From the fruit of the vineyard, Vassilis Kaniaris, and his sons, Demosthenes and George, create their wines in modern winemaking facilities.
From the estate, the "dreamcatcher" series is released where consumers can taste most of the estate's varieties.
Also released are the "Filos" series and the "chateau kaniaris" series which includes a white and a red that have been aged in oak barrels. All labels are PGI labelled.
Visitors can admire the view from the Tower, tour the estate and the halls. The winery is open to visitors by appointment and there is a specially designed tasting room in the cellar.
