My name is George Ntanos, I am a mechanical engineer from Greece and more specifically from Patras and my hobby is brewing.

Ι got into brewing just four years ago, when coincidentally I tasted fresh beer from a small brewery. Then I started understanding the difference between taste and quality. After doing some research I figured out that it was possible to make my own beer, and that’s what I did. Then I decided to participate in the 2nd Hellenic contest for amateur brewers organized by the Greek amateur brewer’s club. This contest was about two types of beer, Tropical Stout and English IPA. In Tropical Stout I won the first place and in English IPA I got second.

When I saw Great taste awards contest, I wanted to join it without a doubt, because it was the contest that suited perfectly to what I wanted to do, to give taste in beer. I decided to participate with two of my recipes and to my pleasure both of them were awarded. More specifically Tropical Stout called ‘“De ’KA 5” got two stars and English IPA called ‘’AMMOUSA’’ got one.

I have not participated in any seminar and when I decided before four years to start brewing my own beer, I did not even knew the ingredients of beer. But my target was to combine two different but at the same time same arts, the art of beer and the art of food. I wanted to make beers with especial taste and essence, where it accents or it completes food. My target is to also be a part of the evolution, which has a result this variety of different tastes of beer. So many people will understand that beer is nor a soft drink neither a summer drink, it is not just to quench your thirst, it has the capability to give you a variety of feelings.

For about a year AMMOUSA English IPA is on the market with its professional state. It slowly but surely finds its way in the top restaurants of Greece and it goes with the best dishes of the Hellenic gastronomy.

AMMOUSA English IPA has been awarded from different contests in the last years.

·       In 2017 it got second place in the Hellenic contest for amateur brewers organized by the Greek amateur brewer’s club.

·       In 2018 it got one star in the global contest great taste awards in London. There it was classified as one of the best beers in the world.

·       In June 2019 it got the highest award by winning the platinum award in the contest of quality- taste Olymp Awards – food and drinks Competition 2019, continuing after great taste awards 2018 its trip in the world of tastes.

·       In November 2019 it got double gold medal in the global competition European Beer Challenge in London.

·       In February 2020 it was awarded with the first place of its category in the taste test, from the Beer and Bar magazine.

·       In April 2021 it was awarded with the Best AFFA Platinum 2021, at Athens Fine Food Awards.

·       In April 2021 it was awarded with Bronze medal at London Beer Awards

·       September 2021 it was awarded with one star at Great Taste Awards.
