Gastronomic Communities is a program based on George Pittas's book titled Gastronomic Communities - Gastronomic Destinations published in 2018. Key members if the initiative are professionals from the wider field of gastronomy (agricultural sector-processing-catering-hospitality), who collaborate with each other in order to record and highlight the gastronomic wealth and quality gastronomic offer of their place with the ultimate goal of gastronomy to play a leading role in shaping the identity and cultural identity of the area. The publication of digital and printed guides that lead visitors to the gastronomic treasures of each place consist the main tools for the implementation of the initiative.
Until recenlty, 14 Gastronomic Communities are being formulated, each of which is in a different phase of development (Kalamata, Naoussa, Zagori, Corfu, Rhodes, Nemea, Amorgos, Pelion, Skiathos, Arta, Kerkini, Kefalonia, Paros, Kefalonia)
The program will be presented in its general outlines, while representative members of specific gastronomic communities, as well as representatives of the Municipalities that support them, will share their experience on how the program is implemented in their place.
